No. We highly encourage using a nickname or pseudonym when you sign up. Your counselor will only ever know you by the display name you choose. The only private information we need is your email for login purposes, and we guard that tightly.
Never. Video sessions happen over secure, end-to-end encrypted channels. They are not recorded, transcribed, or stored by Manasya or the counselor. What happens in your session stays strictly in your session.
Posts on the Empathy Wall are entirely anonymous. Other students can read your text and leave supportive emoji reactions, but your identity, username, and email are never attached to the post.
This is real therapy with people who genuinely care about understanding you. All Manasya counselors are qualified professionals with formal degrees (M.A./M.Sc/M.Phil) and many are RCI-registered. They use evidence-based approaches like CBT and mindfulness — the same methods used in private practice, just more accessible.
That is completely normal! You don't need a prepared speech or a clinical 'diagnosis' to start. Your counselor is trained to gently guide the conversation. You can simply say 'I feel overwhelmed' or 'I don't know why I'm here', and they will help you untangle it.
The connection between you and your counselor matters more than anything else. If it doesn't click after a session, that's completely okay — it doesn't mean anything is wrong with you. You can switch to a different counselor at any time from your dashboard, no awkward explanations needed.
No. Manasya counselors provide 'talk therapy' (psychotherapy) and emotional support. Only a medical doctor (Psychiatrist) can prescribe medication. If our counselors feel you might benefit from medication, they will advise you to consult a psychiatrist offline.
No! The digital Journal, Mood Tracker, and Empathy Wall are 100% free and always will be. You only pay if you choose to book a live 1-on-1 video session with a professional counselor.
We built Manasya specifically for student budgets. While traditional private therapy in India costs ₹1500–₹3500+ per hour, sessions on Manasya start at just ₹199–₹499. We believe mental healthcare shouldn't drain your allowance.
